In Zandhoven (Belgium), a contemporary home was created where aesthetics, comfort, and technical innovation blend seamlessly. Thanks to the close collaboration between interior architect Melanie Van Puyvelde, architect Valerie Willems, and Alu-Xtra—who integrated Aliplast aluminum profiles for the exterior joinery—a sleek yet warm ensemble emerged, fully tailored to the residents' wishes.

An oasis of peace and privacy

After years of professional dedication, the residents sought a home that radiates tranquility and offers space for relaxation. The house was designed with a clear focus on experience: the living areas are oriented toward the garden and bathed in natural light, while the front facade facing the busy street was deliberately kept closed. This creates a sense of security without sacrificing openness at the rear. A ceramic studio was even installed in the basement—a place where creativity and calm converge.

Aluminum joinery as an aesthetic and technical Asset

Window manufacturer Alu-Xtra chose various aluminum systems from Aliplast, a trusted partner they’ve worked with for years. In their own workshop, Alu-Xtra transforms Aliplast profiles into high-quality windows and doors, fully customized with attention to detail. With Aliplast profiles, non-standard dimensions or complex designs pose no issue, perfectly aligning with the high demands of this project.

The Star75 window profiles offer both visual and technical advantages. Their sleek design complements the architecture of the home, while excellent thermal and acoustic insulation enhances living comfort. Thanks to the different insulation levels within this system—from Star75 to Star75 Hi—there is a suitable solution for every situation.

For the large glass surfaces, Ultraglide sliding windows were integrated. This system is ideal for expansive glass areas and offers high thermal performance. The recessed threshold ensures a seamless transition between indoors and outdoors, enhancing the sense of space. The option for a 90° glass-to-glass corner without a corner profile further contributes to the home's sleek, minimalist look.

At the rear, a Glass Glide system was installed: a fully glazed sliding wall without profiles that extends outdoor living. This windproof solution allows for longer enjoyment of the terrace and garden and can be fully opened or closed depending on the need—ideal for canopies, pool houses, and more.

Smart sun protection and sustainable finishing

To prevent overheating and meet EPB requirements, Roma sun-protection screens were integrated. Alu-Xtra has been working with this brand for four years and installed the screens invisibly behind the facade brick. They contribute to the aesthetic whole and enhance comfort by better regulating indoor temperatures.

The technical execution of the project was challenging: large glass-to-glass corners without support, triple glazing for optimal acoustics, and extremely precise installation. Thanks to the smooth cooperation between all parties involved, the project was successfully completed—where others might have given up.
